Job summary

QuEra Computing, Inc. in Boston, MA, is seeking a Technical Buyer for Laser and Optical Systems to manage the vendor base and align procurement with R&D specs.

You will evaluate supplier capabilities, translate specifications into RFQs, and ensure delivery quality and capacity as we scale toward production. The role combines technical reading of specs with commercial handling in a fast-paced, multi-region environment.

Qualifications

• Able to read technical specifications and verify supplier conformance.
• Experience coordinating with suppliers on lead times, cost, and quality.
• Knowledge of ERP or QMS systems and associated workflows.
• Strong documentation habits: purchase records, serial numbers, and configurations.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate vendor competencies based on R&D specifications.
• Create and normalize quotations for like-for-like comparison on cost, lead time, and warranty.
• Assess supplier capacity and production readiness for scaling.
• Develop and maintain RFI/RFP/RFQ processes for new and existing vendors.
• Maintain qualified supplier lists and track delivery and quality performance.
• Coordinate with Optics and Laser Systems Team and Legal for high-dollar procurements.
