Job summary

Mastercard is seeking a Manager, Strategic Investments to drive sourcing, execution and oversight of strategic investments, including the Start Path program. You’ll interact with founders, internal stakeholders, and executives, guiding investments from idea through execution and ongoing management.

The role requires strong financial modeling, valuation, and familiarity with fintech. A bachelor’s degree is required, and prior investment banking or private equity exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must have intellectual curiosity with a desire to learn.
• Strong analytical skills including financial modeling, accounting and valuation experience.
• Solid understanding of financial concepts such as DCF, NPV, IRR.
• Familiarity with financial technology and payments industry preferred.
• Detail oriented with excellent communication (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
• Capable of multi-tasking in a fast paced environment.
• Excellent time management, planning and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated experience in investment banking, private equity, venture capital, corporate development, or strategic finance role (preferred).
• Bachelor's Degree

Responsibilities

• Oversee the end-to-end Start Path investment process: business case, diligence, and negotiating terms with founders.
• Evaluate strategic fit against Mastercard’s priorities (asset enhancement, ecosystem reach, engagement expansion).
• Prepare investment memos and senior leadership materials for Investment Committee and execs.
• Manage the Start Path portfolio: be point of contact for founders and internal stakeholders; track performance and milestones.
• Provide support for ongoing management, valuation and monitoring of broader strategic investments portfolio, including reporting to executives and Board.
