Job summary

Applied Optoelectronics, Inc. (AOI) is seeking a detail‑oriented Inventory Planner to oversee daily material movements and maintain accurate inventory control at our Houston area facilities in Sugar Land or nearby.

This on‑site role supports the department manager with training and operational tasks. The position requires 2–3 years in inventory management, ERP inventory experience (SAP preferred), and strong analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree required.
• 2–3 years of inventory management experience.
• Familiarity with ERP Inventory module; SAP experience preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, ability to work independently.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Manage issuing and receiving of all material types.
• Perform regular inventory counts (monthly and annual).
• Coordinate inventory transactions using SAP/MES systems.
• Maintain custody of inventory materials and ensure proper storage.
• Organize inventory shelves and floor areas by category and location.
• Pick and issue materials per Work Order BOMs in SAP/MES.
• Process and record material returns from work orders in SAP/MES.
• Receive and confirm incoming materials from AOI purchase orders after inspection.
• Communicate with Production Control on stock verification and special picking needs.
• Support the manager with daily department operations and training.
• Participate in audits and special assignments.
• Perform additional duties related to inventory operations.
