Job summary

Lehigh Valley Zoo is seeking a Human Resources Manager to lead HR activities for staff as the organization grows. The role includes payroll, benefits management, performance management, employee relations, and administrative duties.

The Manager will also support the President & CEO as Executive Assistant and collaborate with Zoo leaders on strategic initiatives. Applicants should have HR experience, familiarity with HRIS (Paylocity preferred), and ability to adapt to events and weekend/holiday

Qualifications

• Knowledge of employment law and HR general practices
• Excellent organizational, multi-tasking and communication skills
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
• Works well independently and within a group setting
• Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

Responsibilities

• Maintain payroll, benefits and personnel files.
• Administer benefits and enrollment, liaise with providers.
• Support performance management and rewards systems.
• Administer annual benefits open enrollment with Finance.
• Manage PTO balances and payout of unused time.
• Ensure compliance with unemployment, workers' comp, FMLA and labor laws.
• Support Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
• Post job openings and assist with onboarding and background checks.
• Coordinate onboarding plans and schedules with managers.
• Attend guest services orientation sessions biannually.
• Standardize internship processes across departments.
• Escort termination meetings and conduct exit interviews.
• Complete departing employee paperwork including benefits and IT.
