Job summary

Saint Michael's College is seeking an Associate Director of Human Resources Operations in Colchester, VT. The role serves as a strategic HR partner to assigned departments, advising leaders on employee relations, performance management, and organizational effectiveness.

It includes supervision of HR staff and coordination of recruitment, compensation, leave, onboarding, and reporting. Salary range is $75,000–$85,000.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 5–7 years of HR experience.
• Higher education HR experience a plus.
• Knowledge of Vermont and Federal employment laws (ADA, FMLA, VPFL, FLSA, WC).
• Experience with HR information systems and HRIS implementations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as strategic HR partner to assigned departments with consultation and responsive HR support.
• Advise supervisors and staff on employee relations, performance management, workforce planning, and employment practices.
• Lead resolution of employee relations matters ensuring policy and law compliance.
• Supervise and develop HR staff for high-quality service.
• Coordinate recruitment, compensation, leave, onboarding/offboarding, and workforce reporting.
• Partner with HR leadership to advance initiatives and process improvements.
• Promote trust, inclusion, and professionalism across the college.
