Job summary

Smurfit Westrock, a leading paper and packaging company, seeks an HR Manager to lead core HR programs across a unionized manufacturing setting. The role champions employee relations, compensation, benefits, training, safety and labor relations in support of a long-term people strategy.

The position requires 5–7 years as an HR Generalist in a complex environment, with a preference for paper and pulp manufacturing experience and a Bachelor's in HR management or related field.

Qualifications

• 5 to 7 years of experience as HR Generalist in complex, unionized manufacturing.
• HR-related role in Paper and Pulp Manufacturing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate labor relations activities including contract interpretation and grievance administration.
• Serve as strategic partner using data-driven diagnostics for decision-making to foster cultural change.
• Foster a continuous learning environment and coach future leaders.
• Ensure compliance with federal/state laws including EEO, FMLA, HIPAA, ADA, and CBAs.
• Develop and improve safety and health processes for the facility.
• Manage HR systems and records for accuracy, consistency, and efficiency.
• Promote employee development including succession planning and career development.
• Consult with General Managers to navigate operational challenges and issues.
• Resolve people-related issues and conduct internal investigations.
