Job summary

Morton Salt, Inc. seeks a Human Resources Manager to partner with the local General Manager, directing employee relations, recruiting, talent development, and regulatory compliance aligned with Morton Salt policies.

In this role you will implement HR policies, build relationships with leadership, manage union and non-union labor relations, and lead programs for organizational development and performance management while ensuring compliance with laws and company objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• 5+ years of Human Resources experience, preferably in a unionized environment.
• Experience in administration and negotiation of collective bargaining agreements.
• Broad knowledge of HR practices including talent acquisition, compensation, performance management, succession planning, leadership development, employee relations, change management and organizational development.
• Ability to motivate staff and effectively accomplish tasks through others; ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products and the ability to learn various in-house computer software.
• Experience in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community; effective conflict resolution and/or mediation skills.
• Knowledge and awareness of industrial sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic HR initiatives for development, staffing, retention, succession planning, and labor relations for union and non-union employees.
• Align HR priorities with operation’s strategy and ensure customer-centric service.
• Develop robust talent pipelines for production, trades, technical and supervisory roles.
• Drive cultural change to reflect company values and collaboration.
• Counsel leadership on change management and communication plans.
