Job summary

Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago seeks a dedicated Human Resources Associate Director - Faculty & Labor Relations to support the HR department with a primary focus on teaching positions. This role will facilitate faculty recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance evaluation, and will serve as the HR representative for collective bargaining unit matters.

The position requires 5–7+ years in HR with at least 3 years in labor relations or CBAs, solid knowledge of NLRA, and experience

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years of progressive Human Resources experience; at least 3 years handling labor relations, unions, or CBAs.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial/Labor Relations, Business Administration or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Strong working knowledge of labor law (NLRA), employment regulations, grievance procedures, contract administration, and internal investigations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary HR contact for CBA interactions, labor/management meetings, and grievance resolutions.
• Oversee full-cycle recruiting, onboarding, offboarding, and retention for teaching positions.
• Design and manage faculty performance evaluation processes; collaborate with Education Department on training programs.
• Lead internal reviews and HR investigations to address workplace concerns and ensure a respectful, compliant environment.
• Coordinate with HR Generalists to ensure faculty HR data, contract tracking, and reporting are up-to-date.
