Job summary

Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center seeks a dynamic Director of Health Information Management to lead our information governance, coding integrity, and EHR strategy across the hospital and clinics.

This senior role directs HIM operations, ensures HIPAA and accreditation compliance, mentors staff, manages the department budget, and partners with clinical leadership to optimize reimbursement and data quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information and RHIA/RHIT certification by AHIMA.
• Minimum five years in HIM with supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide visionary leadership and oversight of the HIM department.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, Conditions of Participation, and accrediting bodies.
• Direct HIM operations including coding, auditing, release of information, and registry reporting (cancer and trauma).
• Collaborate with medical staff and clinical leadership to ensure documentation accuracy and optimal reimbursement.
• Lead initiatives to improve data quality, workflow efficiency, and system utilization.
