Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Health Systems Specialist - Strategic Planner at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center.

The role provides expert guidance on operational and strategic issues within a complex health care environment and supports executive leaders with management information needs. The position requires experience in healthcare administration, strategic planning, and strong written/verbal communication to influence decisions across facility leadership and service

Qualifications

• Education: hospital/public health administration or related field with healthcare coursework.
• Experience in analytical/administrative/clinical management in healthcare.
• Ability to work with facility managers and coordinate admin-healthcare activities.

Responsibilities

• The Strategic Planner formulates recommendations for administrative and general management decisions.
• Reviews directives and translates them into sound management practices and goals.
• Develops position papers representing the Medical Center Director's stance on issues.
• Demonstrates integrated knowledge of VHA policies and operating programs.
• Works with senior leaders across service lines to support decisions and planning.
• Protects information under Privacy Act and applicable laws.
• Initiates projects independently and supports the Associate Director and Medical Center Director.
