Job summary

The UVA Health Controller leads the accounting operations for the University of Virginia Medical Center and UVA Community Health, ensuring GAAP reporting, strong controls, and accurate budgeting across a multi‑billion dollar enterprise.

The role requires a proactive, innovative leader who can manage a high‑performing team, drive financial transformation, and partner with executive leadership to sustain long‑term fiscal health. Hybrid work with Charlottesville offices is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field required.
• Master’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field preferred.
• CPA certification required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the financial close process for the Health System and ensure GAAP/GASB compliance.
• Maintain a cohesive system of accounting policies and procedures.
• Lead internal and external audits and coordinate with auditors.
• Develop benchmarks and operational metrics to measure financial performance.
• Manage subsidiary entities’ accounting operations and controls.
• Partner with executive leadership on budgeting, capital investments, and strategic decisions.
