Job summary

Kalmbach Feeds grain procurement professional will join the Purchasing Team, interfacing with Nutrition, Sales, Pricing, Marketing, and Production to identify new suppliers and ingredients based on nutritional needs and opportunities.

You will purchase grain from area farmers, discuss market factors over the phone, and build strong relationships with customers. Face-to-face interactions and strategic contracting are key to success in this role.

Qualifications

• Experienced in and understands grain markets and other related markets.
• Team oriented to support purchasing and nutrition in the sourcing of new product suppliers and origins.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail oriented with a high sense of urgency to manage inventories to avoid outages.

Responsibilities

• Interface between Nutrition, Sales, Pricing, Marketing, and Production.
• Focus on purchasing grain from area farmers for manufacturing feed.
• Daily tasks include regular communication with farm customers about market factors and opportunities.
• Build key relationships through face-to-face contact and phone conversations.
• Identify new suppliers, sources, and ingredients based on nutritional needs and opportunities.
• Develop, manage, and sell various contracting strategies.
• Maintain and track contracts and positions with attention to detail.
• Manage supplier relationships and respond to customers’ needs.
