Job summary

The City of Baraboo seeks a Finance Clerk to support the Finance Department in general ledger fund accounting, accounts payable processing, and bank deposits. You will assist with month-end closing, financial statements, budget preparation, and asset records.

Under direct supervision of the Finance Director and City Treasurer, you will handle vendor payments, maintain capital asset schedules, perform reconciliations, and assist with journal entries and annual reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
• Two to three years of municipal accounting experience preferred.
• Proficient with computers and multiple accounting software systems.

Responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices, purchase orders, and 1099s with accurate coding.
• Manage AP check runs and electronic payments.
• Maintain monthly Capital Asset records and depreciation schedules.
