Job summary

Performance Food Group is seeking a purchaser to coordinate supplier relations, negotiate price and quantity terms, and establish long-term contracts to ensure a steady supply of grocery, dry goods, and beverages for its foodservice distribution network.

The role supports maintaining service levels, assisting with special orders, and contributing to efficient procurement processes across the organization.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience
• 1 - 2 years purchasing or related area.
• Bachelor's Degree: Business, supply chain or related area
• 2 - 4 years purchasing or related area within foodservice industry.

Responsibilities

• Select vendors based on ability to provide continuous supply, service level, product quality, value, and market understanding.
• Maintain vendor relationships by resolving invoicing, product, or delivery issues to ensure quality service.
• Select products based on market fit, performance, alternatives, and vendor reputation.
• Negotiate prices and quantities based on customer orders, EOQ, discounts, and warehousing utilization.
• Negotiate long-term contracts to ensure continuous supply.
• Support distribution centers for emergencies with timely product delivery.
• Provide product and pricing information to sales and advise on pricing structure by volume and margin.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
