Job summary

Mighty Earth is seeking a Vice President of Finance and Operations to lead the finance and operations functions, partnering with the CEO and Board to guide strategic direction and ensure financial health. You will manage accounting, grants, budgeting, and compliance, while developing a high-performing finance team and collaborating with program staff.

Qualifications

• Ten years of finance and accounting experience in a nonprofit setting, with at least five years in a leadership role.
• Ability to partner with CEO, Board and leadership for strategic direction.
• Experience with fund accounting, international grant reporting, and compliance.
• Proven track record of driving systems change and process improvement.

Responsibilities

• Act as strategic partner to leadership and liaise with Finance & Audit Committee and Board.
• Oversee cash flow forecasting and management.
• Develop vision for systems to improve fiscal operations accuracy and efficiency.
• Lead planning for budgeting and multi-year financial planning.
• Oversee accounting, grants management, and compliance activities.
• Train and mentor staff accountants and grants professionals.
• Collaborate with Development to report to funders and ensure grant compliance.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and timely external audits and IRS Form 990.
