Job summary

The University of Minnesota seeks an accomplished finance director for the Morrill Hall Shared Services Team. This critical role oversees 10 Resource Responsibility Centers with an annual operating portfolio around $515 million, guiding planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial operations.

The director leads 11 finance professionals, partners with senior leadership, and shapes strategic decisions in a decentralized environment with a strong emphasis on operational excellence and integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, economics or closely related field.
• Minimum of 12 years of progressively more responsible finance experience.
• Experience leading a finance function for a comparable organization (public or private).
• Ability to handle sensitive, multi-layered information with confidentiality.
• Proven leadership of a high-performing team.
• Strong analytical and written/verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, accounting and operations across 10 RRCs.
• Develop multi-year financial strategies aligned with university priorities with VPASB.
• Lead financial forecasting, budget development and scenario modeling for leadership decisions.
• Identify risks and opportunities to improve resource utilization and unit performance.
• Translate complex financial data into clear insights for unit leaders and stakeholders.
• Oversee a team of 11 finance professionals delivering high-quality services.
