Job summary

The City of Suisun City is seeking a strategic Finance Director to lead long‑range financial planning, organizational change, and key development initiatives. This on‑site executive role guides the Finance Operations Strategic Plan and builds a modern, fiscally sustainable finance function for a growing community.

Ideal candidates bring hands‑on leadership, deep accounting expertise, and the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to the City Manager, City Council, and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, public administration or closely related field; master’s preferred.
• Six years of progressively responsible accounting and financial management experience, including at least three years in a management and administrative leadership role.
• An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead long‑range financial planning and organizational transformation.
• Oversee modernization of budget development and mid‑year review processes.
• Build trusted relationships with department directors and provide advisory support to City leadership.
• Direct major development, capital financing, and long‑term fiscal planning initiatives.
