Job summary

Vaco Recruiter Services is seeking a Director of Finance for a growing Richmond-area organization. The role reports to the CEO and serves as the senior finance leader, guiding a small accounting team and acting as the liaison with the parent company.

You will oversee monthly close, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial reporting, and partner with leaders to monitor project profitability while strengthening internal controls.

Qualifications

• BS in Accounting or Finance required; CPA/CMA/MBA preferred.
• 5+ years of accounting, finance, or FP&A leadership experience.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
• Experience with large ERP systems and Microsoft Office.
• Experience in project-based, construction, manufacturing, or service environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly close, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Serve as a strategic business partner to senior leadership, providing financial analysis and decision support.
• Prepare management reporting packages, forecasts, KPI reporting, and variance analyses.
• Partner with operational leaders to monitor project performance, profitability, and financial results.
• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
• Oversee financial planning, working capital, and cash management activities.
• Coordinate audit, tax, banking, and other external financial relationships.
• Drive process improvements, reporting enhancements, and operational efficiencies.
• Supervise and mentor accounting and finance staff.
• Assist with special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned.
