Job summary

The First Academy seeks a Senior Director of Finance to provide strategic leadership for all financial operations, reporting to the COO and working with the Executive Team and Board. The role will oversee budgeting, forecasting, accounting, treasury, risk management, and capital planning while ensuring compliant, transparent financial reporting and strong internal controls.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.
CPA strongly preferred; MBA preferred.
Minimum 5 years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience; nonprofit/independent school experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic financial leadership to support the school's mission and long-term sustainability.
Lead budgeting, long-range forecasting, and multi-year financial planning.
Oversee GAAP-compliant financial reporting and internal controls; manage audits.
Direct treasury, cash management, debt, investments, and capital planning.
Collaborate with the Executive Team, Finance Committee, and Board on financial strategy and governance.
