Job summary

Confidentiel in Columbus, OH is seeking a Controller who wants real ownership of the finance function and a direct line to leadership. You will manage the general ledger, close processes, payroll, AR/AP, and financial reporting on accrual and cash bases.

You will drive budgeting, forecasts, tax filings, and CPA collaboration while building scalable processes for growth. This onsite role requires five days a week in Columbus and strong leadership abilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 10+ years of accounting experience since degree completion.
• Hands-on QuickBooks Online experience using accrual accounting.
• Direct payroll responsibility for hourly workforce.
• Experience with A/R, A/P, invoicing, and collections.
• Cash flow reporting, budgeting, tax filing, and unemployment claims knowledge.
• Vendor relationships management, including benefits and business insurance.
• Relationship management with an outside CPA firm.
• Onsite work in Columbus, five days a week.

Responsibilities

• Manage general ledger and close cycles (monthly, quarterly, annual) for accrual and cash basis.
• Perform bank deposit verification and reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
• Oversee customer billing through invoicing and collections activities.
• Handle accounts payable, vendor invoices, review, approval and payments.
• Run payroll entry and processing for hourly staff; ensure compliance.
• Prepare income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports weekly to annually.
• Lead budget preparation and rolling forecasts for leadership visibility.
• Coordinate tax filings at federal, state, and local levels; manage unemployment claims.
• Collaborate with outside CPA on audits and tax work.
• Manage vendors for benefits and business insurance; review contracts.
• Document and improve accounting processes to scale with growth.
• Drive special projects and cross-functional initiatives as needed.
