Job summary

Detroit Red Wings, Inc. in Detroit seeks a seasoned Controller to oversee accounting and finance functions, including reporting, forecasting, and internal controls, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies.

You will lead the monthly close, manage AP/AR/Treasury, coordinate payroll, support budgeting, and work with department leaders to drive financial strategy and performance across the organization.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of financial and accounting experience in a dynamic organization, preferably in sports/live entertainment.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting standards.
• Experience with internal and external financial reporting requirements.
• Proven leadership and ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly forecasting with department leaders to develop realistic projections.
• Help develop the annual budget aligned with GAAP and strategic priorities.
• Ensure timely monthly close and reconciliations of the general ledger.
• Oversee AP, AR and treasury, including vendor payments and salaries posting.
• Collaborate with HR to report open positions and payroll forecasting.
• Manage annual financial audit and respond to auditor requests.
• Support league reporting and ad-hoc financial analyses as needed.
