Job summary

Drake University is seeking an Assistant Director for the Facilities Planning and Management team. The role leads HVAC, buildings, custodial, and/or grounds operations, reporting to the Executive Director.

The position emphasizes service, collaboration, and campus safety; you may report on campus during emergencies and work with a professional, dedicated staff. The role requires a relevant degree with five years' experience and three years of supervisory leadership.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Five years of progressively responsible experience in facilities, operations, or related field.
• Three years of direct supervisory or management experience.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
• Experience with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversee one or more FPM departments, guiding priorities and staff development.
• Assist in development and implementation of unit-level planning and continuous improvement plans.
• Lead communication efforts with campus constituents; coordinate updates on work orders, projects, and operations.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation for departmental operations.
• Oversee safety and emergency management functions; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Provide project management direction and oversee maintenance, repairs, and landscaping initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
