BYU–Hawaii's Career Services seeks an External Relations Manager to lead employer engagement and external relations efforts, developing partnerships that create internships, employment opportunities, graduate education pathways, experiential learning, and professional connections for BYU–Hawaii students.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.
  • 5-7 years of directly related experience.
  • Experience in employer relations, partnership development, recruiting, workforce development, higher education, or related field.
  • Strong leadership, relationship-building, communication, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Experience supervising employees, student employees, volunteers, interns, peer leaders, or project teams.
  • Ability to develop student leaders and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with employers, graduate schools, alumni, Church organizations, government agencies, and university partners.
  • Ability to analyze data, assess outcomes, and implement continuous improvement strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and promotion of internships, employment, graduate education, mentoring, and experiential learning opportunities.
  • Coordinate employer recruiting initiatives, hiring programs, information sessions, job postings.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align partnership development with student needs and institutional priorities.
  • Lead employer outreach to generate internships, employment opportunities, graduate education pathways, and long-term partnerships.
  • Build and maintain recruiting pipelines in key industries, regions, and countries aligning with the university's mission and student population.
  • Communicate employer expectations, industry trends, hiring needs, and workforce opportunities to Career Services staff and university stakeholders.
  • Represent Career Services in meetings, presentations, conferences, recruiting activities, and partnership discussions with external organizations.
  • Lead career conferences focused on Church Areas of influence and industry that connect students with employers, graduate schools, alumni, Church leaders, and other partners.
  • Coordinate event logistics, travel, lodging, transportation, schedules, communications, and guest experience with University Events.
  • Develop recruiting, networking, mentoring, internship, graduate school, and employment opportunities through conference participation.
  • Evaluate conference effectiveness and recommend improvements based on stakeholder feedback, recruiting results, and student impact.
  • Partner with departments, supporting units, and external stakeholders to develop communication strategies and follow-up systems.
