Job summary

Cowboy Space Corp. in the United States (Seattle or San Carlos) is seeking an Export Control Director to own the company’s export compliance program, building the function from the ground up within a fast‑moving aerospace environment.

Reporting to the COO/CLO, you will lead ITAR/EAR classifications, license filings, and risk management across engineering, manufacturing, and operations, partnering with regulators and external counsel as needed.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of export compliance experience in aerospace/defense/manufacturing or similarly regulated tech environments.
• Deep expertise with ITAR and EAR.
• Experience interacting with DDTC, BIS, OFAC and related agencies.
• Experience performing export classifications and managing licensing activities.
• Experience developing, implementing, and scaling export compliance programs.

Responsibilities

• Own and continuously improve Cowboy Space’s export compliance program.
• Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and internal controls related to export-controlled technologies.
• Lead ITAR, EAR classifications and license applications.
• Partner with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain to embed export compliance.
• Manage denied party and sanctions screening programs.
• Develop export compliance training and awareness programs.
• Maintain records and audit readiness; coordinate with regulators and counsel as needed.
