Job description

We're recruiting for a Strategic Engagement Lead here at Justice Digital, Data and Science to be part of our warm and collaborative Justice Data & Science team. This role sits within Justice Data, where multidisciplinary teams work across the data lifecycle to turn complex data into better decisions, tools and services. We bring together expertise in data management, engineering, access and sharing, data linking, data science and AI, analysis and service management. Working with partners across the department, the Criminal Justice System and wider government, we strengthen data foundations, connect data across organisational boundaries and make it easier to use data securely and effectively. By combining strong data foundations and governance with engineering, insight and AI, Justice Data supports better decision-making, frontline delivery and long-term transformation of the justice system.,

  • Lead on all internal communication activity, supporting the Director.
  • Develop a strategic comms and outreach plan for the Data and Science Directorate; work closely with other comms and engagement professionals across Justice Digital, Data and Science to ensure visibility of Data activities
  • Create a strong narrative for Data which can support a successful process of departmental allocations, identifying compelling case studies and presenting these in an engaging way
  • Draft communications for external audiences, including blogs, newsletters and articles.
  • Build relationships with partners outside MoJ who can highlight our work with subject matter experts in the private sector and other government departments
  • Support external events to showcase specific data programmes, for cross-government and third sector audiences
  • Ensure consistent messaging across the directorate: standardising how we describe our work across all communication channels to reinforce the Data and Science Directorate's mission and objectives.

Successful candidates who meet the required standard will then be invited to a panel interview held via Microsoft Teams. At interview stage, you will be assessed against the following Success Profile elements - Experience and the following Behaviours:

Appointments are made strictly in merit order. Additional Information Working Arrangements & Further Information

The MoJ offers Hybrid Working arrangements where business need allows. This is an informal, non-contractual form of flexible working that blends working from your base location, different MoJ sites and / or from home (please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas). All employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in an office, subject to local estate capacity. Some roles will not be suitable for Hybrid Working. Similarly, Hybrid Working will not suit everyone's circumstances. Arrangements will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate(s) and subject to regular review.

For nationally advertised roles: All successful candidates will be appointed to the nearest viable office nearest to their home postcode and on its respective pay scale. This will be at either a HQ building (subject to desk allocation, a Justice Collaboration Centre (JCC) or a Justice Satellite Office (JSO) - See Map. All employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in an office, subject to local estate capacity). Flexible working hours The Ministry of Justice offers a flexible working system in many offices. Standard full time working hours are 37 hours per week. The national salary range is £58,511 - £65,329, London salary range is £63,343 - £70,725 Your salary will be dependent on your base location, You'll receive a range of excellent benefits when you join our department, including:

Base salary for this role is from £58,511 - £65,329 (National) to £63,343 - £70,725 (London)

  • Existing Civil Servants moving on a level transfer will retain their current base salary or move to the minimum of the pay band for the role, whichever is higher.
  • Existing Civil Servants who are promoted will either move to the bottom of the new grade's pay band or receive a 10% uplift, whichever provides the greater increase.
