Job summary

Google is seeking a Strategic Negotiator for Energy Market Development in the U.S. Central region, with a focus on Iowa and the MISO footprint to shape regulatory policy and secure reliable, affordable, carbon-free power for Google's growing data center portfolio.

You will lead complex negotiations with utilities, policymakers, and industry coalitions, develop regional energy positions with cross-functional partners, and advocate for grid reliability, efficiency, and market-based solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 10 years of experience leading negotiations or business development.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic evaluations of regulatory and policy environments in the U.S. Central region (focusing on MISO and Iowa), monitoring industry trends and tariffs to assess risks and opportunities for Google’s data center portfolio.
• Develop energy market solutions for Google’s supply needs in the Central U.S., designing engagement strategies before the Iowa Utilities Commission and MISO.
• Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., Global Infrastructure, Public Policy) to develop regional energy positions, communicating our infrastructure, grid protection, and carbon-reduction goals.
• Lead energy advocacy with MISO committees, trade associations, and local allies to advance Google’s clean energy, grid reliability, and strategic interests.
• Drive energy supply negotiations in Iowa and the broader U.S. Central region, working closely with electric utilities.
