Job summary

ERM seeks a Principal Consultant, Electric Transmission Routing and Siting, to support its growing power sector business in the Mid-Atlantic and Great Lakes regions. The role requires leading routing and siting studies, managing staff, and producing reports for new‑build transmission projects.

Strong writing and communication skills are essential, with up to 15% travel across the U.S. The candidate will collaborate with ERM’s global impact assessment team and other experts, advancing career

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Land Use Planning, Cultural Resources, or related disciplines or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of consulting or industry experience with power clients on complex projects.
• Experience managing routing and siting of electric transmission projects in the U.S. Mid-Atlantic region.
• Strong writing, communication, and strategic thinking with good people skills.

Responsibilities

• Direct routing and siting studies and oversee report preparation for transmission projects.
• Oversee multiple projects, ensuring scope, budget, schedule and quality standards.
• Delegate tasks and mentor junior staff.
• Prepare expert testimony and provide oral testimony when required.
• Participate in agency meetings and public hearings, in person or online.
• Contribute to technical proposals and business development with clients.
