Job summary

County of Delaware is seeking a Deputy Director of Elections to assist the Elections Director in daily operations and long‑range planning for the Elections Department. You will provide strategic leadership, coordinate with staff and vendors, and ensure secure, accurate, and accessible elections for Delaware County voters.

You will oversee 2,000+ workers, support activities for ~330,000 voters per election, and drive improvements in processes while meeting deadlines and regulatory requirements

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience in election administration or government operations is valued.
• Experience with ballot systems, voter registration, or audits is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support the Elections Director in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Elections Department.
• Assist with long-range and strategic planning for election operations.
• Plan, coordinate, and direct election activities involving more than 2,000 full-time, temporary, and Election Day workers.
• Support election operations serving approximately 330,000 voters during each election.
• Coordinate activities across all areas of the Elections Department to ensure continuity of operations.
• Work closely with departmental staff, County departments, outside vendors, and other stakeholders.
• Assist with ballot system preparation and testing.
• Support poll worker recruitment, training, and coordination.
• Assist with voter registration activities and Election-related voter services.
• Support ballot processing, audits, and election results reporting.
• Assist with campaign finance activities and other election administration responsibilities.
• Develop and maintain procedures that support secure, accurate, and transparent election processes.
• Identify operational needs and assist with implementing improvements to departmental processes.
• Provide leadership and guidance to staff to ensure deadlines, regulatory requirements, and departmental goals are met.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
