Union College in Schenectady, NY seeks a Director of Environmental Health & Safety to lead the EHS department, supervise staff, and ensure compliance with EPA, OSHA, NYS regulations. You will partner with Facilities and Campus Safety to integrate safety into daily operations and coordinate training and inspections.

The role requires a 6+ year leadership background in EHS, a relevant Bachelor’s degree, and certifications such as CSP or CHMM.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree required; 6+ years of directly related EHS leadership experience; safety certifications preferred (CSP, CCHO, CHMM, OSHA 10/30).
• Ability to lift 30 lbs. required.
• Strong knowledge of EPA, OSHA, NYSDEC, NYSDOL, NYSDOH regulations; high safety consciousness and communication skills.

Aufgaben

• Develop and execute long- and short-range EHS plans; hire, supervise, and mentor staff; manage EHS budget.
• Direct compliance with local, state, and federal health, safety and environmental regulations; coordinate inspections.
• Oversee chemical, biosafety, radiation, and laser safety programs; act as CHO/BSO/RSO/LSO as needed.
• Oversee hazardous materials and waste management; ensure spill response readiness.
• Manage fire life safety, emergency response; liaise with campus community on safety information.
