Job summary

Lindentx in Athens, TX seeks an Economic Development Director to lead the city's economic strategy, coordinate the Economic Development Department, and align with the AEDC Board and City Council on long-range plans for business recruitment, expansion and retention.

The role directs programs, develops partnerships with local organizations, presents to civic groups, and maintains a comprehensive inventory of available sites to attract new ventures and strengthen community vitality.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of economic development principles for business recruitment, expansion and retention.
• Familiarity with state and federal programs and funding mechanisms.
• Understanding of municipal law related to economic development.
• Experience with budget processes and creating incentive packages.
• Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate economic development efforts for the City of Athens, including marketing and promotion of business opportunities.
• Prepare and file minutes for AEDC meetings and manage agendas.
• Collaborate with local organizations to enhance economic development opportunities.
• Administer economic development programs focusing on analysis, monitoring, recruitment, expansion and retention.
• Assist in attracting and expanding businesses within Athens.
• Provide technical and professional advice to the City Manager, AEDC Board and City Council.
• Make presentations to civic groups and advisory boards on redevelopment and development plans.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive inventory of available buildings and sites.
• Spearhead a recruitment team to bring new businesses to Athens.
• Maintain inventories of land and buildings for development purposes.
