Job summary

The Director, Research & Evaluation at Liliʻuokalani Trust leads the Research & Evaluation team, setting the agenda and ensuring culturally grounded methods to inform LT's decisions.

Reporting to the Managing Director, Impact, Data, and Evaluation, the role builds partnerships, oversees workplans, budgets, and staff development while advancing Indigenous approaches to assessment.

You will foster learning, produce rigorous evidence, and share knowledge to support Native Hawaiian wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree including advanced study of social science research and/or evaluation methods.
• 7-10 years progressively responsible work in research/evaluation, including leading developmental evaluations.
• 5+ years supervisory experience leading research/evaluation or other knowledge-work teams.
• Experience managing budgets, contracts, and external consultants.
• Experience presenting to and advising executive leadership and boards.
• Cultural knowledge and skills to work in a Hawaiian-serving organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of LT's Research and Evaluation agenda.
• Develop and oversee the annual Research & Evaluation deliverables workplan.
• Oversee a portfolio of research, assessment, community assessment, and evaluation projects.
• Establish and maintain standards of practice for evaluation methods, data collection tools, and data quality.
• Lead the development of LT's evaluation and assessment tools.
• Foster a team culture of learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
