Job summary

Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments seeks a Chief of Regional Public Safety Programs to lead planning, coordination, and oversight of regional public safety initiatives in the NCR.

You will supervise a team of three, manage governance, budgeting, and stakeholder reporting, and coordinate with DHSPS and multiple jurisdictions to ensure effective delivery of grant-funded and locally funded projects.

Qualifications

• Oversee a portfolio of regional public safety programs.
• Lead development of long-term strategic plans and multi-year budgets.
• Transition grant-funded programs to alternative funding sources with governance.
• Identify gaps and provide corrective recommendations.
• Provide leadership updates to executives and elected officials.

Responsibilities

• Oversee governance documents and program frameworks.
• Support regional committees with agendas, materials, and decisions.
• Develop decision-support materials and program analyses.
• Coordinate information-sharing across committees and agencies.
• Ensure programs have defined metrics and transition plans.
