Utica National Insurance Group is seeking a Director of Underwriting for the Educational Institutions unit. You will lead underwriting strategy, drive profitable growth, and mentor a team of underwriting professionals.

You will partner with education leadership and agency partners to refine processes, respond to market changes, and ensure excellent service to clients in educational institutions. This is a senior, impact-driven leadership role in a national insurer.

Qualificações

• 5+ years of commercial property and casualty underwriting experience.
• Strong technical underwriting and risk-selection expertise.
• Experience leading, coaching, or developing underwriting professionals.
• Strong understanding of commercial insurance coverages, pricing, portfolio management, and profitability.
• Ability to evaluate loss experience and translate insights into underwriting actions.
• Strong communication, decision-making, and relationship-building skills.
• Experience partnering with independent agents or brokers.
• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent professional experience.
• CPCU, AU, or similar professional insurance education/designations preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Lead underwriting operations for the Educational Institutions portfolio.
• Provide technical direction for risk selection, pricing, coverage and decisions.
• Maintain underwriting quality through ongoing review and quality control.
• Monitor portfolio and loss performance and take action to improve results.
• Develop a high-performing underwriting team through coaching and training.
• Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to support profitable new business and retention.
• Communicate changes in underwriting appetite and guidelines to agency partners.
• Partner with Educational Institutions business leadership to improve workflows and service.
