Job summary

Spoon River College is seeking a Chief Development Officer and Foundation Director to provide strategic leadership for the SRC Foundation and serve as the College’s chief development and fundraising officer. You will lead efforts to grow philanthropic support, strengthen donor and community relationships, expand grant opportunities, and build the Foundation’s capacity to support the College’s priorities.

The role reports to the President and requires collaboration with the Foundation Board,

Qualifications

  • Five+ years in fundraising, advancement, nonprofit mgmt, or higher education.
  • Proven donor cultivation and philanthropic fundraising experience.
  • Experience managing projects, budgets, or personnel.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience with major gifts, campaigns, or endowment development.
  • Knowledge of the Spoon River College district and communities; valid IL driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Foundation’s operations, strategic planning, financial management, compliance.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy including annual giving and major gifts.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and partners.
  • Build relationships with alumni, businesses, foundations, and community leaders.
  • Develop a Spoon River College Promise Program and expand dual-credit opportunities.
  • Monitor fundraising activity and report progress to the President and Foundation Board.
