Job summary

The University of Virginia seeks a fundraising leader to serve as Director of Development for the Center for Politics, a premier nonpartisan institution advancing civic engagement and public understanding. This exempt role reports to the Associate VP for Development and aims to secure robust philanthropic support for the Center’s priorities.

The Director will oversee a diverse portfolio, lead comprehensive fundraising efforts with Center leadership, and collaborate with UVA External Relations

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Eight+ years in fundraising, donor relations, or advancement operations with significant responsibility.
• Willingness to travel and participate in occasional evening/weekend activities as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead a comprehensive fundraising strategy across annual, major, principal, and planned giving.
• Manage a portfolio of individual, corporate, and foundation prospects through all philanthropic stages.
• Partner with Center leadership to identify priorities and develop compelling philanthropic opportunities.
• Collaborate with UVA External Relations and the Center’s Board of Advisors on fundraising and donor relations.
• Develop a sustainable pipeline of support and strengthen donor stewardship.
