Job summary

Colorado School of Mines seeks a Deputy Chief Financial Officer to advance financial sustainability, drive planning and execution, and strengthen administration. You will lead across accounting, research administration, procure‑to‑pay, FP&A, treasury, and related systems to support growth and academic mission.

The role partners with university leaders to balance current needs with future investment, maintain controls, and ensure compliance in a complex, research‑intense environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business.
• CPA license OR Master’s degree (Accounting, MBA, or related).
• 15+ years in financial operations with progressive leadership across a complex portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Lead financial planning, resource stewardship, and administration capabilities.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and debt capacity.
• Represent the institution externally with partners and regulators.
