Job summary

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Medicine is seeking a Sr. Department Administrator to lead the Division of Digestive Health and Liver Disease on the UHealth Campus.

The role oversees a large program with faculty, providers, fellows, and research staff, managing an $18.2 million budget with $2.2 million in grant funding and about 51,000 patient encounters yearly. Responsibilities include strategic planning, performance management, workforce development, and policy implementation

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
• Ability to establish department goals that support the strategic plan.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership in developing business strategies and tactics to support the division and Health System goals.
• Heads performance management processes and outcomes for employees and physicians.
• Guides managers in developing skills in and implementation of performance management practices.
• Supports professional development of the workforce.
• Performs needs assessments to determine continuing education needs of staff.
• Monitors staff and physician satisfaction.
• Provides administrative oversight to the division’s practices, supporting the employment of quality improvement processes.
• Pursues the spread of best practice in operations, consistent with network goals.
• Directs the planning and strategic formation of the clinical program’s goals.
• Directs the development of policies and procedures for network-wide use in clinical activities.
• Analyzes and reviews financial and productivity reports.
• Establishes and continuously assesses internal controls and compliance with University policies.
