Job summary

The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Defense Budget Analysis Program invites an intern to support research and administrative needs. The hired candidate will be paid hourly, commensurate with experience. The intern will conduct literature reviews, analyze data, and provide editing and writing support for reports on U.S.

and international defense spending, defense acquisition, and military readiness. Candidates should be enrolled in a master’s or Ph.D.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing or holding a graduate degree in a relevant field.
  • Interest or experience analyzing defense budgets and national security.
  • Excellent academic record in research environments.
  • Strong writing, organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Mandarin language skills are a plus, though not required.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Research and writing support for ongoing defense budget projects.
  • Provide data collection, literature reviews, and editing support for reports and documents.
  • Support written products through background research, copy-editing, and citations editing as needed.
  • Collaborate with staff on topics including U.S. and international defense spending, acquisitions, and security cooperation.
  • Assist in meetings, events, and conferences; track relevant legislation in defense funding.
