Position Summary

The Strategic Data Solutions Lead defines and drives the technical vision for HED’s enterprise data ecosystem. This role leads the implementation of a scalable medallion data architecture, ensuring that systems are interoperable, secure, and aligned with the business’s need for insights, analytics capabilities and serves as a senior integrator of data, design thinking, and innovation.

Essential Functions

• Define enterprise data architecture strategy and roadmap, including data lakehouse, warehousing, and medallion data models.
• Evaluate and oversee the implementation of enterprise-scale tools such as Databricks, Snowflake, Microsoft Purview, and Azure Synapse.
• Lead integration of structured and unstructured data sources from internal tools, platforms, and third-party systems.
• Develop governance and stewardship practices that ensure data quality, lineage, privacy, and security.
• Partner with AI, analytics, and development teams to deliver scalable platforms for reporting, modeling, and intelligent automation.
• Guide system integration and engineering efforts across Power Platform, Azure services, and HED’s proprietary applications.
• Translate business and technical requirements into system architecture and development plans.
• Mentor developers, analysts, and platform specialists in best practices related to data architecture and infrastructure.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.

8+ years of experience in data architecture, platform engineering, or enterprise systems.

Deep expertise with Microsoft Azure ecosystem, Databricks, data lakehouse patterns, and Power Platform integration.

Strong understanding of enterprise data governance, security models, and metadata management using tools like Microsoft Purview.

Experience managing data infrastructure and development projects in a cross-functional environment.

Exceptional technical documentation, communication, and system design skills.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to effectively communicate in writing and verbally via phone, video conferencing, and in-person.

Visual acuity to perform responsibilities.
