Job summary

City of New York's Department of Transportation seeks a City Planner to support cycling and micromobility initiatives and connect strategic priorities to project delivery. You will help develop and communicate planning concepts, perform data-driven analysis, and contribute to public-facing materials and maps.

The role emphasizes collaboration with senior staff, stakeholders, and community groups to advance street design, safety, and livability citywide. NYC residency is generally required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in city planning or related field.
• Bachelor's degree plus 1 year relevant experience.
• Graduate education may substitute for experience with 30 graduate credits; all candidates must have a bachelor's degree.
• Eligibility for Assignment Level III after two additional years of professional experience.

Responsibilities

• Support development and implementation of cycling/micromobility initiatives.
• Apply prioritization methodology to identify priority projects.
• Develop metrics and benchmarks for neighborhood planning evaluation.
• Create public-facing maps, diagrams, and conceptual designs.
• Engage communities through workshops, events, and stakeholder meetings.
• Coordinate with other units to inform planning and project delivery.
