Genesee County is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to lead the Department of Fiscal Services, directing accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting in compliance with GAAP and government standards. The CFO will oversee audits, SEFA and grant reporting, and provide strategic financial analysis to the Board of Commissioners, ensuring fiscal stability and accurate information for decision-making.

The role requires a degree in accounting or finance and extensive governmental accounting

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; government accounting experience preferred.
• Ten years of governmental accounting experience or five with a Master's.
• CPA/CMA/CPFA or GFOA certification preferred.
• Experience with financial compliance and reporting of grants including SEFA preferred.

Responsabilités

• Directs day-to-day operations of the Department of Fiscal Services.
• Ensures accurate financial records for budgeting, CAFR, audits, and reporting to funding sources.
• Manages the preparation and presentation of the annual operating budget and projections.
• Oversees financial reporting compliance of grants (federal, state, local) including SEFA coordination.
• Provides timely, clear communications to the Board of Commissioners.
