Job summary

Roessel Joy is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to own standard costing and act as a hands-on financial partner to operations in Boston. You will work with the General Manager and CFO to explain performance, identify cost drivers, and translate production data into decisions on the shop floor and in leadership reviews.

The role requires 5+ years cost accounting in manufacturing, strong costing knowledge, and familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 5+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of standard costing, variances, inventory accounting, and production workflows.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills; Power BI a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain standard costs for manufactured products and BOMs/routings.
• Analyze variances in materials, labor, and overhead; explain root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Partner with operations leadership on productivity, capacity, scrap, rework, and cost-improvement initiatives.
• Prepare KPI, margins, production, and inventory reporting and analysis.
• Support pricing, profitability analysis, make-or-buy decisions, and capital evaluations.
• Review ERP work orders and production transactions for accuracy and resolve exceptions.
• Assist with inventory counts, reconciliations, and excess/obsolete inventory analysis.
• Help improve costing practices, ERP data quality, reporting, and internal controls.
