Job summary

Daimler Truck North America is seeking a seasoned Corporate Counsel to join its Commercial, Distribution and Antitrust Team. You will support procurement, commercial transactions, and strategic initiatives across North America and Germany, translating complex legal concepts into practical business solutions.

The role focuses on advising procurement, drafting and negotiating agreements, and driving efficient contract processes. Hybrid work with strong collaboration across teams is expected.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Active state bar membership and ability to practice in Oregon or South Carolina.
• 8+ years of legal experience supporting procurement, supply chain, manufacturing, automotive, transportation, technology, or software-driven businesses
• Experience negotiating, drafting, and advising on complex commercial agreements.
• Experience developing or implementing contract management, legal operations, or process improvement initiatives.
• Strong business judgment, practical problem-solving, and the ability to influence without direct authority.
• Collaborative mindset, intellectual curiosity, and a positive sense of humor.

Responsibilities

• Advise procurement and business stakeholders on commercial contracting, risk management, and strategic transactions.
• Draft, negotiate, and manage a broad range of commercial agreements involving suppliers, technology providers, service providers, and strategic partners.
• Structure transactions to protect DTNA's legal and business interests while enabling efficient business execution.
• Drive the adoption and optimization of legal technology, AI-powered solutions, contract lifecycle management systems, and knowledge management resources to improve speed, consistency, and scalability of legal services.
• Develop and maintain contract templates, playbooks, negotiation guidance, and training materials.
• Partner with Corporate Compliance on regulatory and compliance matters.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments and recommend appropriate business and policy changes.
• Manage outside counsel and related legal resources.
• Apply sound legal judgment, practical problem solving, and a commitment to continuous improvement in all aspects of the role.
