Job summary

DLA Architects, Ltd. is seeking a Corporate Controller in Itasca, IL to lead the firm’s accounting and financial functions.

This hybrid role requires three days in the office weekly to support collaboration with leadership and staff across the firm. The ideal candidate will bring strong GAAP knowledge, 8–10 years of accounting experience, and a hands-on leadership style to drive accurate financial reporting, budgeting, audits, and internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and cash management.
• Advanced Excel skills and analytical abilities.

Responsibilities

• Direct all accounting and financial operations with accuracy and integrity.
• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Maintain the general ledger and oversee all financial reporting.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management.
• Develop and monitor annual budgets and financial forecasts.
• Coordinate annual audits and tax preparation with external CPA firms.
• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
• Analyze labor utilization, multipliers, overhead rates, and revenue forecasts.
• Partner with project managers and department leaders to improve project financial results.
• Lead and mentor the accounting team.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to implement process improvements.
