Job summary

Vaco Recruiter Services is partnering with Bethel-based organization to recruit a Corporate Controller. This high-visibility role reports to the CFO and oversees the accounting function, ensuring accurate reporting, timely close, and strong internal controls.

The ideal candidate will lead a team, drive process improvements, and collaborate with executive leadership on strategic initiatives. 6+ years of accounting leadership, CPA preferred, and Big 4 experience are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; CPA preferred.
• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and corporate accounting.
• Experience managing audits, financial reporting, and month-end close.
• Public accounting background (Big 4 or national firm) preferred.
• Leadership experience in an accounting team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close with accurate financial reporting.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and GL activities.
• Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and significant transactions.
• Coordinate annual external audit with auditors and advisors.
• Partner with tax to support reporting, compliance and filings.
• Oversee consolidated financial reporting for executives and ownership.
• Support relationships with lenders, investors, and external stakeholders.
• Maintain and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions and standards.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team.
