Job summary

Foster McKay is seeking an experienced Controller to lead day-to-day accounting and financial reporting across construction-related entities. You will own the close process, prepare GAAP-compliant statements, and drive improvements with a hands-on leadership style.

Reporting to the CFO, you will manage a team of eight+, partner with operations and project teams, and coordinate with external advisors. Strong technical accounting, communication, and process improvement skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required; CPA is preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience with construction accounting.
• Experience managing an accounting team of 3+ people.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, job costing, WIP, revenue recognition, multi-entity consolidations.
• Hands-on leader who drives priorities and delivers results with minimal oversight.
• Advanced Excel skills; experience with automation of processes.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close across multiple entities with reconciliations and journal entries.
• Review entity-level and consolidated financial statements per GAAP; explain variances to CFO.
• Oversee weekly/monthly WIP reporting including job profitability and cost to complete.
• Support cash flow planning, working capital management, budgets and forecasts.
• Oversee AP, billing, collections, intercompany accounting, fixed assets and related controls.
• Establish consistent reporting with partner entities; review and resolve open items promptly.
