Job summary

Sikich is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead core accounting functions, financial reporting, compliance, and process improvements. The role reports to the CFO and supports growth initiatives in a contract-to-hire capacity.

The position is based in Chicago's River North, with a hybrid schedule and in-office access via CTA/Metra. Ideal candidate has strong GAAP knowledge and ERP/NetSuite experience for multi-location operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• CPA certification is preferred.
• 5-8+ years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.
• Experience in manufacturing, agriculture, industrial, or multi-location environments is strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting standards, month-end close processes, and accounting controls.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and ERP/accounting systems; NetSuite experience preferred.
• Experience leading system implementations, process improvements, or finance transformation initiatives.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, and month-end close activities.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Oversee balance sheet reconciliations and resolve account discrepancies.
• Maintain and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
