Job summary

Thompson Hospitality, a leading restaurant, food service, and facilities management company, seeks an experienced Controller to join our Finance team in Reston, VA. This role partners with business leaders to drive financial accuracy, operational performance, and strategic decision-making across the Retail Division.

You will supervise accounting activity, ensure GAAP compliance, and guide month-end closes, budgeting, and forecasting while mentoring a growing team.

Qualifications

• BA in accounting/finance or related field with strong GAAP knowledge.
• Experience preparing financial statements and reconciliations.
• Ability to analyze financial data and communicate clearly.
• Experience mentoring or supervising accounting staff is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate, complete, and timely financial statements.
• Ensure all accounting activities comply with GAAP.
• Review and reconcile balance sheet accounts each period.
• Assist with month-end and period-end close processes.
• Support budgeting and forecasting with operations leaders.
• Provide financial guidance to business leaders to support sound decisions.
• Educate operational teams on interpreting financial statements.
• Train and mentor accounting team members on policies and best practices.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives and special projects.
