Job summary

WKAR Public Media – Michigan State University is seeking a visionary Senior Director of Content & Education to provide strategic and operational leadership for the organization’s content portfolio. You will oversee TV/video production, radio and digital news, classical music programming, and multiplatform content development.

The role requires establishing content vision, leading long-range planning, and developing partnerships to advance WKAR’s mission and impact within a university setting.

Qualifications

• Five to eight years of experience leading or participating in content strategy development.
• Experience leading and supervising a team and collaborating across multiple teams.
• Extensive knowledge of television and radio production; administrative, budgeting, and long-range planning; digital media technology; news and public affairs productions.
• Experience developing, leading, and executing strategic content initiatives; experience interacting with community leaders to create partnerships with national partners.

Responsibilities

• Oversee television and video production, radio and digital news, classical music programming, educational initiatives, and multiplatform content development.
• Establish content vision and editorial priorities, lead long-term content planning.
• Develop strategic partnerships and align resources, budgets, and workflows to advance WKAR's mission and impact.
• Lead WKAR's senior leadership team and report to the General Manager.
• Collaborate with community organizations and national partners to expand reach and impact.
