Job summary

Siemens Smart Infrastructure is seeking a Construction Procurement Lead to join our Central region, based in the Chicago or Milwaukee area. You will own end-to-end sourcing for large, complex project pursuits, partnering with Sales, Operations, Engineering and Finance to win and deliver marquee projects.

You will lead RFQ/RFP processes, negotiate terms, and collaborate with category management to leverage Siemens’ buying power, while managing risk and travel about 10% for project engagement.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years in commercial construction including sourcing and negotiating subcontracts (electrical, mechanical, or similar)
• Familiarity with construction documents, bid packages, and RFQ/RFP processes
• Understanding of risk factors for trade contractors and what makes a subcontractor reliable or risky
• Willingness to travel about 10% for project and stakeholder engagement

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end sourcing for third-party materials and subcontracted scopes on large, complex project pursuits, including RFQ/RFP, bid leveling, negotiations, and award recommendations
• Partner with Sales from early pursuit stages to develop a sourcing strategy that provides a competitive cost position
• Work with Procurement peers in category management to leverage Siemens’ buying power into projects
• Collaborate with Operations and Engineering to reduce risk on subcontract and material purchases during project execution
• Act as a business partner to the area management team
• Maintain strong stakeholder relationships while protecting commercial interests
• Lead procurement for the greater New York City area with support from a Northeast team and a global network
• Career progression into more senior procurement roles, potentially moving into Sales or Operations
